 Heritage Conservancy Board

Mission Statement:  

"To collect, identify, interpret, document, and disseminate accurate information pertaining to the history of Clarkdale and to preserve and protect this history and all historic archives, artifacts and structures."

 

The Heritage Conservancy Board meets monthly at The Clark Memorial Library. The public is welcome to attend. From time to time volunteers are needed to serve on the Board. Other volunteers are always needed to assist in ongoing projects such as gathering oral histories, collecting donations, cataloging items, and organizing events. Interested persons should contact Charlotte Hawken at charlotte.hawken@clarkdale.az.gov for more information.
 

Historic Sites of Clarkdale Brochure

The Town of Clarkdale offers a free brochure which allows visitors to take themselves on a self tour of the historic sites of Clarkdale, including buildings constructed in the 1920's by the mining company which founded the town. The brochure is available at Town Hall.

Materials Available

The book, "A Historic Resource Survey" is available through the Clarkdale Heritage Conservancy Board, Town of Clarkdale, Post Office Box 308, Clarkdale, AZ 86324-0308 for $10.00 (temporarily out of stock). This book is a study of the construction, development, architecture, social history, and historic significance of Clarkdale, the model company town constructed by the United Verde Copper Company prior to World War I. Proceeds from the sale of this edition will be used to further the efforts to preserve the rich history of the Town of Clarkdale.
