Work hours extended through Friday on SR 89A sidewalk project
Weather delays affect work schedule this week

The Arizona Department of Transportation will work on Friday (Nov. 11) to construct sidewalks along State Route 89A from Cement Plant Road in Clarkdale to Black Hills Drive in Cottonwood. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will include work on Friday because of delays due to inclement weather earlier this week

There will be periodic lane restrictions with minimal impacts to the traveling public. Crews began work at Cement Plant Road and are working toward Black Hills Drive. The speed limit has been reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph through the project work zone. No restrictions are expected on weekends.

This $635,000 project includes new sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, a reinforced block wall, and the installation of decorative boulders within the existing roundabouts along SR 89A. The project is scheduled for completion by mid-January 2012.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
